Our company, Noguchitokutarosyoten Co., Ltd., also known as Noguchi Kumataro Tea Garden, was established in 1874 by Kumataro Noguchi, the first generation of tea growers, in Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture. Currently, we are proud to say that we are in our fifth generation of tea production.

Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, has always been renowned as a prominent tea production area in the northern part of Japan. The tea grown here is now recognized as Sashima-cha. In fact, Sashima-cha holds the honor of being the first-ever Japanese tea to be exported to the United States back in 1859. This feat was achieved through negotiations with Townsend Harris, the inaugural U.S. Consul General in Japan.

While we strive to preserve the rich traditions and techniques that have been passed down through five generations, we also endeavor to create a new tea culture. We do this by embracing the influences of Western culture that permeated daily life during the Taisho period (1912-1927) in Japan. Recognized as the "Taisho Romantic" style, this era witnessed the fusion of Western and Japanese aesthetics.

Our product features the highest quality Japanese washi paper, showcasing a unique texture inspired by the Taisho period. Designed with functionality in mind, the outer lid securely locks into place when its patterns align. This ensures an airtight seal, preserving the freshness of the loose tea for an extended period. Additionally, our tea container is equipped with both an outer metal lid and an inner lid made of food-grade materials.

The dimensions of our tea container are 155mm (H) x 74mm (D), weighing approximately 200g in loose tea. Each tea container is proudly made in Japan, guaranteeing the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that has become synonymous with our brand.
